Hi I’m Jacqueline
I am a portrait artist / illustrator. My art is mostly inspired by nature and I enjoy drawing animals. I have a lot of fun observing them and drawing what I imagine they could possibly be thinking in the moment.
My art style is both painterly and sketch-like. I am most comfortable working traditionally with pens, charcoal pencils, colored pencils and graphite; and so this even reflects in my digital art drawing style. I started out with doing realism art but I find that doing illustrations for children’s books is more freeing and lots of fun.
Fun fact: when I was much younger, I would pause a few of my favorite animated movies and draw the scenes and even copy the VHS cover illustrations. These were my first “art classes”.
Lately I have been inspired to learn new techniques to keep improving. I’ll just have to make more space for all the new art books I’ll be acquiring.
